Help From God's Word

During times of trouble we struggle with our emotions and often have questions for God. God has already provided us with help and answers from the Bible— His word to us. If you are in need of comfort and peace, we encourage you to read these scriptures.

Biblical Resources

Worry
  • Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you. 1 Peter 5:7
  • Do not let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God; trust also in me. John 14:1
  • Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:6-7
  • Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful. Colossians 3:15
  • I will lie down and sleep in peace, for you alone, O LORD, make me dwell in safety. Psalm 4:8
  • And my God will meet all your needs according to his glorious riches in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:19
  • Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more important than food, and the body more important than clothes? Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life? And why do you worry about clothes? See how the lilies of the field grow. They do not labor or spin. Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these. If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe you, O you of little faith? So do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own. Matthew 6:25-34
  • The mind of sinful man is death, but the mind controlled by the Spirit is life and peace. Romans 8:6
  • When you lie down, you will not be afraid; when you lie down, your sleep will be sweet. Proverbs 3:24
  • Now we who have believed enter that rest, just as God has said, "So I declared on oath in my anger, ‘They shall never enter my rest.’" And yet his work has been finished since the creation of the world. There remains, then, a Sabbath-rest for the people of God. Hebrews 4:3, 9
  • Great peace have they who love your law, and nothing can make them stumble. Psalm 119:165
  • He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the LORD, "He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust." Psalm 91:1,2
