Frequently Asked Questions

General
All that my spouse (family member/ friend) does is blame me. Can you make him/her treat me right?
Blame or criticism are often aspects of poorly managed anger or of entrenched habits, and sometimes are a result of our training. Criticism and blame are rarely effective methods of getting our loved ones to change. Counseling assists people in finding much more effective ways of bringing about change.
Do you have evening hours?
We are open until 8:30PM Monday, Tuesday, Thursday
Do you prescribe medicine?
No, only a licensed physician or psychiatrist can prescribe medicine.
Do you take insurance?
Mr. Fenn is a contracted and approved provider for several insurance companies. He can also be reimbursed as an out-of-network provider for any PPO. He is not a provider for some HMO’s. It will be up to your insurer if, and how much, they will pay for mental health benefits.
How long are my sessions?
Sessions are 45-50 minutes long. However, you may schedule longer sessions with your therapist if you and he agree.
How long will counseling last?

This varies highly with what you want to accomplish, the nature of the problem and the severity.  Most clients resolve their concern with a few to a dozen sessions.

How much will it cost?
Your insurance is likely to cover most of this. You may also have a deductible and a co-pay. If you have no insurance, payments toward your balance can probably be arranged at an amount you feel comfortable with.
Is Mr. Fenn Christian?
Yes. But most all Americans say they are Christian. Refer to the Statement of Faith in this website.
Is the counselor licensed?
Yes. Mr. Fenn is a licensed therapist who is highly trained and experienced.
Is there a fee? When do I pay? What methods of payment do you have?
Yes, we are a fee for service center. Payment is expected at the time of service. We accept cash or checks.
What age children do you see?
Generally from 8 and up.
What if I have an emergency after hours?
You may page us 24 hours. However, in the case of a true life threatening emergency, call 911 or go to your nearest hospital.
What if my spouse doesn't come to counseling with me?
If you have a marital or parent-child treatment issue, it is better if both spouses are attending, but there is much information that indicates that one person can have very positive influence on another person, helping the missing person to change.
Will my session be confidential?
Yes, all sessions are private and confidential by law and ethical standards. Information is only released by your permission or where indicated by law.
Will you see my whole family if needed?
Yes. We are trained in individual, marriage, and family therapy. Often the best sessions are when the entire family participates.
